Vascular Cures Announces Chief Executive Officer Opportunity

Vascular Cures, an entrepreneurial, national healthcare non-profit, is looking for our next leader who will continue our mission of improving the lives of the millions of people living with vascular diseases. The next CEO will champion patient-centered care and lead a passionate, collaborative organization committed to improving healthcare for patients and with patients. We are looking for an energetic and thoughtful leader who can leverage our existing base of people and programs to continue Vascular Cures’ expansive growth and national impact.

Chief Executive Officer Position Description
Reports to: Board of Directors
Salary: $160K – $200K
Location: Negotiable (team is based in SF Bay Area; currently a primarily virtual model)

General Description
The CEO is the face and voice of the Vascular Cures organization in the vascular health community and the broader healthcare ecosystem. The CEO works in partnership with the Board of Directors to provide leadership, vision, and strategy for the organization and to develop and implement a high-impact annual operating plan. The CEO designs and implements policies approved by the Board, manages the organization’s programs and operations to drive mission impact, and supports long-term financial stability of the organization.

Qualifications

• At least five years of prior experience in a leadership role of a healthcare-related organization

• Outstanding communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to discuss and communicate technical/medical concepts

• Experience working collaboratively with industry leaders, patient advocacy organizations, and/or academic institutions

• Track record of fundraising, business development, sales and/or cultivating diverse income sources is a strong positive

• Experience in creating and meeting clear, measurable business goals

• Experience in managing and/or building effective teams

• Track record of establishing and implementing large-scale projects and collaborations

• Capable of building and implementing policies, infrastructure and procedures that can enable future organizational growth

• Proven abilities and experience in budget development and fiscal management

Desired Traits

• Understanding of the cardiovascular healthcare landscape and/or healthcare industry

• Strong interpersonal skills that can enable effective working relationships with leaders in healthcare, science and patient advocacy

• Innovative thinker when it comes to new ventures and collaborations to support organizational impact, program growth and financial sustainability

• Strong personal presence and ability to effectively and enthusiastically communicate the vision value of the organization to diverse audiences

• Vision for how to elevate the organization’s national presence

• Ambitious, proactive, persistent, and passionate about the organization’s mission

Annual Objectives

Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, initiatives, events and services that support the vision & mission.

Design and implement governance infrastructures, policies, and processes with the BOD to sustain high-impact, results-focused programs and initiatives. Support the development of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board.

Create and manage mechanisms to ensure continued financial sustainability. Work with the Board and Finance Committee to develop an annual strategic plan and budget; make financial decisions consistent with the budget as approved by the Board of Directors. Prepare and present quarterly financial statements and analyses to the Board, working with the Finance Committee to assess operating needs and revenue opportunities. Engage the Board in high-level financial and strategic discussions to optimize organizational operations, financial health, and impact.

Lead development efforts, including establishment and cultivation of individual donors and family organizations, grant writing, industry sponsorships, and supporting the Board’s involvement in fundraising. Work closely with advisors and collaborators to support the expansion of industry relationships and membership growth.

Maintain a staff structure that supports the efficient delivery of programs and services, accomplishment of goals identified in the strategic plan and effective overall management. Hire and manage staff and contractors responsive to mission, program needs, and the annual strategic plan/budget.

Work with the Board of Directors to build and maintain an innovative culture in a fast-growing environment. Work with the Advisory Board to ensure advancement of the Organization’s strategic plans and programs to reduce the burden of vascular diseases outside of the heart. Serve as a highly effective leader and mentor to staff to advance their skills.

Develop a marketing plan and strategy to increase awareness of Vascular Cures as a leading non-profit entity in the field of vascular health. Represent the organization with key professional associations and partnerships while serving as a voice through speaking engagements.

Comply with all local, state and federal legal requirements. Support an annual audit and tax preparation, as appropriate and agreed on by the Board.

Contribution to Financial Stability by identifying and cultivating significant investors including organizations and industry decision-makers. Build a culture where maximizing value to create extraordinary efficiencies and mission impact is inherent in every process.
